Dear Pards, Ladies and Fresh Fish:

It is with great anticipation for the coming year's "battles" that I write this communication.

We are now an officially recognized Line Company with the 2nd United States Volunteers.  We are part of the 11th Company and will be joined with the 143rd NY, 7th MA, and 104th PA.  This company was under the able leadership of Capt. Macomber who has taken advantage of his position and resigned his commission to enjoy hearth and home and work from there to preserve our glorious Union.

Col. Young has directed me to take over the captaincy of the Company.

Our Sgt. Major's name is Macomber.  Remember that!  He insists upon it.

This year I look froward to taking the field with you and vanquishing the rebel forces in and around a tiny village called Appomattox.  Beyond that, there is suspected rebel activity going on around the river called Neshaminy, and from all indications, there may be action to see somewhere in the vicinity of another tiny village called Cold Springs.  Rebs seem to be everywhere!  We cannot tolerate even a little secesh presence!  It must be wiped out or it is up with the Union.

In between action we will be very busy with living history events, memorial events and presentations! These serve to keep us sharp for the "johnnies" whenever they show up.

I am looking forward to seeing the elephant with you!  This year we will make the rebs show the white feather!  Three cheers and a "tiger!"

Your obedient servant,

F Mossbrucker

Captain, Co. D, 7th NJ

11th Company, USV .
