Food:

At most events, food will be provided by one of the members.  The cost is generally no more than $20.00 for the weekend.  This will, in most cases include Friday supper, Saturday breakfast, Saturday dinner, Saturday supper, Sunday breakfast and Sunday dinner.   Six meals for $20.00 isn’t too bad.  Should you decide to eat at the sutlers, plan to pay usual “special event” prices.  About $8.00 per meal.  You may also bring your own food,

either pre-cooked or you can take a corner of the fire.  (Please, keep all modern food labels and containers out of public sight.)

Beverages:

The 7th supplies refreshing beverages during the weekend.  Iced Tea, and Lemonade are usual faire.

Friday

Many if not most re-enactors will arrive sometime Friday.  Registration tents are usually open until 10PM or so.  At mega events, midnight or later

Once you arrive you will register.  If you pre-paid, you will probably be asked for your receipt. If you registered through the 7th, you will be asked for your photo ID.  You will be supplied an event map and directed where to drive to unload, then where to park for the weekend.  At larger events, parking may not be close to camp.

Once in camp, the First Sergeant or someone else will point out where to set up your sent.  Set up your tent, and stow away any non-period items.  Most of us are in uniform at this point. Most events will sell ice, should you need some.  At mega events, they will have an ice vendor make rounds all weekend.

There is usually supper on Friday night.   Friday night a nice time to relax, head to the sutlers, and sit around camp catching up with everyone there.  You will also get an idea of the schedule for the weekend.  This is also a great time to find a pard and go over manual of arms, if you think you need to.

Saturday

Saturday starts early.  Late comers will still be arriving and setting up camp.  Breakfast will be served around 7 or 8, depending on the schedule for the day.  Formation and roll call will  be called, so the First Sergeant knows what forces he has.  We will then be told what will be happening for the day.  Formation, times, drill times and Battle times will be announced.  Typically we form one hour before battle.  At mega events, much sooner.

Dinner is served about noon.  This gives us a time to eat, let our meal settle, and get ready for the battle of the day.  There is usually one battle on Saturday.  At mega events, two.  The battle will take place around 2:00 or so, with the battle lasting an hour or so.  We will form up, march into line with the USV, then commence to battle.  You will be asked to have your cartridge box full, your cap pouch supplied (about half full) and your canteen topped off.  DRINK DRINK DRINK.  Don’t wait to be thirsty to drink.  Drink plenty early in the day before the battle.

After the battle we will march back in formation, comments will be made, then either march back to camp as a company, or break ranks there.  Most of the guys will relax, have a cold beverage, and many will go to the sutlers in small or larger groups.

Saturday night supper will be served around 6.  After supper, different things will be happening.  Most larger events, there’s a ball.  Sutlers are open late too.  Peanuts are usually enjoyed along with beverages of both fine and questionable source.

Sunday:

Sunday will start the same as Saturday, less the early people arriving.  Roll call taken, breakfast enjoyed, and time spent relaxing.  Dinner will be served too, usually no later than noon, as the Sunday battle will usually be a bit earlier than Saturday.  Rarely is there two battles on Sunday.  After the battle, we will march back to camp, where a max exodus will begin.  By 5PM, you will hardly know hundreds if not thousands of re-enactors were

just there.

Then....... A matter of time until the next event
